Family Fun at the Fair

This weekend was the St. Charles County Fair in our town of Wentzville, MO. I will have to say it was one of the best fairs I have ever been to and am already looking forward to next years. We headed out to the fair Saturday morning in time to get to the Dock Dog competition at 9 am. The boys loved seeing all the dogs running around and would have much rather been down chasing them then up in the stands watching but we got to watch a few dogs take the leap. From there we went walking around and found the animal barn which had rabbits, ducks, chickens and roosters on display. The boys ran around checking out these animals for quite a while. We then went over and watched a couple classes of a Beef Heifer Show, we took a picture to prove to my dad they do show in MO. The highlight of the morning was watching the turtle and frog races. My boys are all set of competing next year. Looks like we will be searching for some bull frogs and turtles next July.

We then came home and got all rested up to head back out to the fair Saturday evening. We got there just in time for a kids puppet show followed by carnival rides. There were only a couple that the boys could do but they had fun on the ones available. After rides we went to their favorite spot, the Petting Zoo. They both LOVE animals! Their faces just glow as they got to pet and feed goats, a camel, a llama, a cow and donkeys. From there on to a Fishing Derby, live music, and then Josh's favorite and the main thing he was looking forward to...The Demolition Derby. I will say that it was very entertaining and did hold all of our attention for a little while. Never seen anything quite like it. We made sure and topped off our Family Fun at the Fair evening with Fair Food.

Brayden and Bransen loved the jet ski ride. Both seemed like such big boys riding the jet skis.

So we decided to try the hot air balloon ride. Maybe not such a good choice. Poor Bransen wasn't sure what to do and what's worse is you cant do anything about it. He endured and seemed a little better towards the end of it but don't think we will do that again until maybe he is at least 2.

Cars lined up for the Demolition Derby. The boys loved it! Kept their attention for quite some time, something about cars, they all are so intrigued.

The National Anthem truck, perfect for the fair.Watching the Dock Dog Competition.

Competing in the Fishing Derby. He caught 9 goldfish, 5 of them were dead and could have caught more but he insisted I not help him, such an independent 3 year old.

Feeding the donkeys

So nice to see them be nice to one another every once and a while. Brayden was sharing the animal feed with Bransen.

What is that face? Check out the huge turtle in the pen with the goats.
Bransen first meeting the goats, he talked to them and petted them and fed them, so sweet to watch him interact.
A snake in the petting zoo, Kind of thought that was strange but Brayden liked it.

Trying on our Fireman's Hats the firemen were passing out.

The turtle raceBullfrogs ready to race

A prize rooster

A picture to proove to my dad they do show in Missouri

Brayden's favorite were the rabbits, thinking that might be a good pet to have.

Look at this beautiful pheasant.

What fun... they need to go see Aunt Kelli's minature donkey next time you're near Lubbock. My sister in California raises and show loop eared rabbits in California. Will have to send you a picture. Sounds like ya'll had a great time. gramma
